What to Expect: Shoptalk 2022

Shoptalk 2022

In just a few short weeks, the 1440 team is heading to Las Vegas for Shoptalk, one of the best industry events out there. Shoptalk is billing itself as a “retail’s biggest reunion,” and we can’t wait. We’ve all gone a long time without in-person events, and we’re thrilled that our first big event of the year is Shoptalk.

Our team has attended Shoptalk in the past (back in pre-COVID days), but this year, we’re also sponsoring the event and will have a booth in the exhibit hall. In case you can’t tell, we’re pretty big Shoptalk fans over here.

Shoptalk is a relatively new event. But it has quickly become the place for established brands and retailers, as well as startups, technology companies, investors, and others to come together to shape the future of retail. Anyone who’s anyone in retail will be there, and it’s no exaggeration to say that Shoptalk truly sets the stage for the retail year ahead. What’s more, attendees are sure to walk away with insights and perspectives that’ll help them adapt to all of the big changes we’ve seen in the industry during the pandemic.

This year’s event, which takes place March 27-30 at Mandalay Bay, is expected to be the best yet. With more than 10,000 people in attendance, it’ll be four days packed with opportunities to learn, share experiences, and make important connections. There will also be plenty of opportunities for some fun, too. This is Las Vegas, after all.

What can you expect from Shoptalk 2022? Read on to find out what 1440 is looking forward to most.

A Top-Notch Speaker Line Up

As in years past, Shoptalk’s agenda includes an impressive roster of speakers covering a wide range of topics relevant to just about any job title and level. You’ll have the opportunity to hear from over 250 industry leaders representing some of the most well-known retailers like Amazon, Walmart, Target, Macy’s, and Nordstrom (just to name a few), as well as direct-to-consumer and tech startups, industry analysts, and more.

Sessions are organized by track and will take a number of different formats, including traditional lectures, roundtables, case studies, and debates — just to name a few. Speakers will cover all of the industry’s hot button topics, from evolving shopping behaviors and building better omnichannel experiences to brand loyalty and sustainability.

There really is something for everyone at Shoptalk. In fact, one of the toughest parts about attending is deciding which sessions to attend (and which you’ll have to miss). If there are multiple people attending from your organization, we highly recommend dividing and conquering – then meeting up after the event to share insights.

The entire agenda looks great, but here are a few sessions we’re especially excited about.

China and the World’s Most Innovative Retail Experiences: A large portion of global eCommerce sales come from China. In this session, a panel of speakers from companies including Alibaba, ShopShops and others will discuss how social commerce, super apps, robotics and other technologies are creating innovative retail experiences in China – and what this means for the US.

The Investor Perspective on Retail’s Biggest Growth Opportunities: The retail landscape is always changing. During this session, leading investors will explore consumer trends and innovative business models that present big growth opportunities for retailers.

Insights on the Changing Consumer: Consumer behavior is always evolving – especially in the midst of the pandemic. During this session, attendees will access new research that can better equip them to keep up with shoppers’ evolving behaviors and preferences.

Building Better Customer Experiences Through Data-Driven Insights: Brands have access to more data than ever before. In this session, a panel of leaders from Poshmark, Maui Jim, and Best Buy will explore how leading brands are collecting and analyzing data – and acting on it to optimize products and customer experiences.

Meeting the Needs of Gen Z Shoppers: In this session, executives from Frito-Lay North America, American Eagle, and Peace Out Skincare will discuss the shopping behaviors of Gen Z consumers – and how they shape product and marketing decisions.

Digital Marketing Strategies to Prepare for the Post-Cookie World: We’ve been hearing about a cookieless world for quite a while. And with Google, Apple and Mozilla dropping support for third-party cookies in 2023, it seems it may soon be a reality. In this session, executives from Macy’s, CAMP and Foxtrot will share how they’re shifting their budgets to maximize ROI and accountability in a post-cookie world.

Thriving in the Fast-Changing Grocery Environment: Consumers adopted new grocery shopping behaviors during the pandemic that are likely to stick around. During this session, attendees will hear grocery and CPG leaders discuss the rapid evolution of the grocery industry, as well as how retailers can adapt to succeed in the future.

Key Takeaways from Shoptalk: It’s impossible to attend every session at Shoptalk. This session will provide an overview of the top insights and takeaways from the event that attendees can bring back to their own organizations.

Unique Networking Opportunities

One of the coolest things about Shoptalk is that it brings together more than 10,000 of the best and brightest industry pros. Luckily, the agenda provides plenty of time to connect with fellow attendees.

We’re looking forward to learning from peers, sharing experiences, and making lasting connections during meal breaks, after-parties, and in the exhibit hall. We’re especially excited about the networking opportunities that are unique to Las Vegas and Mandalay Bay – including the opening night party and a poolside, neon-lit White Out Party featuring Flo Rida.

The Exhibit Hall

While you’re at Shoptalk, be sure to leave plenty of time to check out the exhibit hall. There will be some amazing vendors there who are helping brands and retailers be more successful in all different areas. Many of our partners will be there as well, so be sure to say hi.

Of course, be sure to stop by our booth 8016 to meet the 1440 team. We’d love to learn about your business and show you how 1440 is redefining modern conversational commerce with full-funnel experiences.

We partner with leading platforms and apps to maximize your team’s efficiency. We also extend your investment in those partner tools with new features and functionality to make conversational commerce a reality across the funnel.

At this year’s event, in addition to our two flagship apps Reputation Studio and Commerce Studio, we will be featuring our two newest releases. Translation Studio is the easiest way to translate objects, emails, knowledge and chats in Salesforce. And Messaging Studio brings Google’s Business Messages into Salesforce, allowing companies to connect with customers in their moment of need on Google Search and Maps. Please schedule a meeting to learn more.
